In 2007, Dave Faber, the lead singer, guitarist, and founder of the band Faber Drive, signed with Chad Kroeger's 604 Records. They released their debut album, Seven Second Surgery to chart success.

Faber started out by recruiting Ray Bull to be the band's original drummer. Faber's brother then put him in touch with guitarist David Hinsley and the band ultimately found bassist Krikit at a church performance. In 2005, they won the Fox Seeds competition, a Canadian radio competition whose other notable winners include Nickelback and Theory of a Deadman.

Dave has kicked off his country career releasing his new country single, Looking For You, a song that carries a deeply personal meaning. Written alongside Michael August and Landon Wall in Nashville, the track is a tribute to his wife and their love story.

For fans of Faber Drive, Dave’s transition into country might feel like a big shift, but for him, it was something that made perfect sense.

“I still have my band, Faber Drive, but I just felt like it was a little confusing for our fans. Faber Drive is punk rock, and I didn’t want people wondering why we were suddenly going country. I’ve loved country for a long time. I co-wrote Tyler Joe Miller’s “Fighting”, I’ve written with Chris Buck, and I’ve been going to Nashville a lot. It just felt like the right time to make the split.”

Dave reassured that there’s no bad blood with his bandmates—it’s just part of the natural ebb and flow of the industry. Despite being known for pop-punk, Dave’s love for country music runs deep. “The first country artist my dad showed me was Johnny Cash. I must’ve been seven or eight, listening to Folsom Prison Blues on a record in our living room, and I instantly loved it. Then, working with Joey Moi and Chad Kroeger, I got into Rascal Flatts and artists like Joe Nichols. I’ve always loved the songwriting in country music.”

With his solo project, Dave is embracing this love for country music and making it his own. “For me personally, I don’t feel like this is a switch—it’s just another side of my musical journey."
